She Used To Wanna Be A Ballerina CD (1971)

$15.00 CAD

She Used to Wanna Be a Ballerina is a varied collection of new originals along with covers of songs performed by a troubadour of musicians including sometime-bandmates in Crazy Horse, Neil Young, Danny Whitten, Ralph Molina, and Billy Talbot. Co-producer Jack Nitzsche contributes some elaborate arrangements as Buffy keeps one foot in the folk world while expanding successfully into mainstream pop and territory. Notable tracks include a heartfelt version of Neil Young’s “Helpless,” the solo piano performance on the Gerry Goffin/Carole King song, “Smack Water Jack” (which also appears on King’s Tapestry), and the emotional performance of Leonard Cohen’s “Bells.” Buffy’s political views come out on “Moratorium,” and “Soldier Blue,” the theme song for the recently released film concerning mistreatment of American Indians.
